Oil and Gas Reserves Evaluation

Introduction

Key objectives of oil and gas reserve evaluation are to learn the various methods of preparing reserve estimates, determine the impact of economics on those estimates and properly classify those reserves using the various reserve definitions. Case studies and class problems will be used to develop an understanding of those skills and include ethical issues that arise when calculating and reporting reserves. The various uses of reserve reports will be covered.


Objectives

By the end of this course participants will learn how to:

  • Understand the differences in the various published reserve definitions
  • Apply the reserve definitions as well as published guidelines to correctly classify reserves
  • Use traditional methods and supplemental techniques to estimate reserves and determine the impact of economics on those estimates
  • Understand the various uses of reserves
